Traumatic peripheral vscular injuries

Abstract
This report consist of 57 cases of traumatic peripheral arterial injuries which was treated at the department of general surgery, Capital armed forces general hospital during the period from 1965 to July. 1973.
The result obtained were as follow;
1. Most common cause of peripheral vascular injuries were G. S. W. (25 ¢¥cases), shrapnell wound .20 cases), blunt trauma (7¢¥ cases) and stab wound (5 cases). .
2. Of 57 vascular injuries most common vascular injuries most common vascular injuries on
upper extremity was bracheal artery, (11 cases) and most, common vascular injuries on lower extremity was femoral artery (25 cases).
3. Vascular reconstruction was carried out by means of end to end anastomosis for 39 cases, lateral repair for- 11 cases, autogenous vein graft for 6 cases, simple legation for 6 cases and. prosthetic graft for 1 case..
4. Of 54 vascular reconstruction, 37 cases were rood and 8 cases revealed impaired distal blood circulation and 8 cases were failed and amputated.
5. Analysis of failure cases were made and found the predisposing I factors for failure were; 1. lag period from injury to surgery. 2., Severe soft tissue injury and bony fracture. 3. State of ,jack F bleeding from distal end of injured vessel. 4. Size of injured vessel. Operation technique 3. post-operative wound infection of 7. prevention thrombus.
